PlantTools > Update Installer

The Update Installer check all installed PlantTools on your machine. It allows you to:

1. Update single or all PlantTools

2. Revert back to the last released version in case we provided you with a preliminary version

3. Checks if all installed PlantTools adhere to a certain minimum version. Which is defined through auxalia when we publish new releases.

Initiate Update Installer

The Update Installer checks you installed PlantTools when starting a PlantTools from your desktop (PlantCenter, PlantDataManager, PlantReporter) or when you start AutoCAD Plant 3D with PlantTools Plugins installed.

This is what the Update Installer looks like. The details will be explained further down.

You can also manually run the Update Installer through PlantProjectSetup or from the footer of the main dialogs of the PlantTools. We also changed the messages in the footer to make it clearer what is installed or what is available. The various messages will be explained further down.

You can now either double-click on the text...

Use Cases

This image below shows all variations which can appear with your installed PlantTools.

Use Case 1	The installed PlantTools is up-to-date and no action is required.
Use Case 2	A newer (developer) version is installed than was released. This happens when we provided you with a preliminary version for testing or with an urgent bug fix you needed. You can identify a developer version with the 999x at the third position of the full version number.
Use Case 3	A newer (preliminary) version is installed than was released. This happens when we provided you with a preliminary version for testing or with an urgent bug fix you needed. You can identify a preliminary version only because the build number (the 4th number of the full version number) is higher than the build number of the release version.
Use Case 4	A newer released version is available. This is the default case where we released a new version. These cases are also using a blue text color and show a download arrow in the Status column.
Use Case 5	A newer released version is available AND MUST BE UPDATED, because the installed version does not meet the required minimum version. These cases are using a red text color and show a red download arrow in the Status column. The reason we require you to update to the minimum version is, that more often we release multiple PlantTools together which share common files.
Use Case 6	A newer (developer) version is installed than was released. This happens when we provided you with a preliminary version for testing or with an urgent bug fix you needed. Typically we don't send them out with this version number. You can identify a developer version with the 999x at the forth position of the full version number.

Download & Installation

Download

To download a single PlantTools you click on the download arrow in the Status column. You can also download all updates in one go by clicking on the small download arrow in the header line of the grid, right of the Status text. The color shows red if there is an update available which doesn't meet the required minimum version.

If you see Version is newer (Use Cases 2/3/6) the text changes to a download arrow as soon as you move your mouse over the text. This allows you to get back to the last released version in case you want to go back from a preliminary/developer version.

While the updates are downloaded you see a progress bar.

The update.exe files are stored in your Download folder and will not be deleted after installation in case you want to use them to install them directly on other machine without downloading them again.

After closing the Update Installer you will get a notification.

After closing the PlantTools (for PlantCenter, PlantDataManager, PlantReporter) or Plant 3D (for the Plugins, PlantClashDetection, PlantDataManager, PlantExpressTools, PlantLink, PlantSpecDriven, PlantSync) the installation will start automatically. It may take a few seconds.

If you downloaded multiple Updates, they will be started one after the other.

Footer Texts

As mentioned before, the footer shows more informative texts about your PlantTools.

The following texts can appear in the footer:

Version X.X.X.XXXX is up-to-date	The installed version is current.
New version X.X.X.XXXX available	A newer version is available for download.
Update to version X.X.X.XXXX required	A newer version is available and MUST be installed.
Preliminary version X.X.X.XXXX installed	The installed version is a preliminary version.
Developer version X.X.X.XXXX installed	The installed version is a developer version.
Version X.X.X.XXXX waiting for install	The version was downloaded and is waiting to be installed
Version X.X.X.XXXX is downloading	The new version is currently being downloaded.
