This video introduces you to the workflows of the bolt calculation to get a general idea about how this feature works.
Since this is a complex subject to understand through a video, we created some examples explaining how the proper BoltSets are found and how the length is calculated.
The Bolt Calculation will be triggered for any flanged connection where Plant 3D BoltSets are used.
Then the Bolt Calculation collects the values of various properties of the 3D objects involved in the connection. Information like FlangeThickness, Length, FlangeOffset.
The following examples don't show every variation of bolt connections. For example, you can have Stud Bolts for welding neck flanges too.
Example 1: Welding neck Flanges with a Gasket
It reads the FlangeThickness property values from the two flanges and the Size Parameter L from the Gasket. 20 [Flange]+2 [Gasket]+20 [Flange] + (14.8 [Nut]+3 [Washer]+3 [Washer]+4 [AddOn]) = 66.8 Selected: 70 |
Example 2: Lapped Flanges with Stubends and Gasket

Example 3: Welding neck flanges with Wafer Valve and Gaskets

Example 4: Welding neck Flanges with a Gasket and Added Length

Example 5: Welding neck Flange with Lug Bolt Valve
