This chapter describes how you can select a different row (dataset) from your data source.
The images below are used from the Create an Update Link example.
The project used in this chapter can be downloaded with the following Link:
To change the mapped data you can use the context menu from the symbol. Then the PlantLink - External Database Viewer will show up again. The row showing with a bold text is the row which is currently mapped. To assign another row's data you simply select the other row and click on Import values. Now you see the change in the Properties Palette. If you open the PlantLink - External Database Viewer again and uncheck the box Show only suitable datasets when using 'Assign Data' you will be shown all rows from the table. If you select for example a heat exchanger which has a different value for PIDType, then the value for Type will also be mapped.
|
Any linked property used in the link configuration will trigger a reaction by PlantLink. So when changing the Type back to P... ...then the PlantLink - External Database Viewer shows up again with the row filtered by PIDType=P. If you use the ~ (tilde) character... ...it also triggers PlantLink and the PlantLink - External Database Viewer opens too. Since there is no specific value given for Type, the database viewer shows again all rows from the table. You select a row of your choosing again and all properties will be mapped.
|
In addition of using the AutoCAD Properties Palette or the PlantExpressTools PropertiesPalette you can also use Data Manager. When you select a Type from the selection list... ...you will be shown the rows filtered by your selection. Here you can also type in the ~. And it opens the PlantLink - External Database Viewer too.

This type of link configuration works in PlantDataManager as well. See Link Configurations. |
