This chapter describes how you can add Hyperlinks to the SymbolsPalette.
Hyperlinks on the SymbolsPalette can be useful, if you want to allow your users to quickly open internal or external URLs. For example, internal sites for the documentation of workflows when drawing P&IDs.
Enable Edit Mode first (see Edit Mode). To add a Hyperlink you first must create a Custom Class. In this example we use the Custom Classes of the previous chapter Create Custom Class. To create a Hyperlink you make a right-click on a Custom Class. If AutoCAD Plant 3D was started you will see Add New Custom Object... in the context menu of the Custom Class. After that you select Add Hyperlink.... If you have added a Hyperlink before and use the context menu again, you will see, that Add Hyperlink... is shown already in the context menu where you can click on without the need of going to the sub context menu. If you have added an AutoCAD or AutoLISP command before and use the context menu again, you will see, that Add AutoCAD command or AutoLISP... is shown in the context menu. Here you have to go then to Add Hyperlink.... All these variations should help you to work a bit faster when adding one Hyperlink after the other. You can also make a right-click on right side of the SymbolsPalette to add a Hyperlink. The context menu on this side is also adapting depending on your previous selection. In any case, the Add New Custom Object dialog opens. You can now select the button to open the next dialog. Now you can either type in the URL... or more likely past the URL in. You can also drag and drop the URL from your browser into the Hyperlink (URI) line. You will see the URL in the dialog. At the bottom you see the Display Name of the site which is retrieved automatically. Now the URL appears on the right side of the SymbolsPalette. At the end of the process disable the Edit Mode again (see Edit Mode). |
Enable Edit Mode first (see Edit Mode). To edit the Hyperlink you make a right-click on the icon and select Properties from the context menu. In the Edit Custom Object dialog you can change the URL, the Images (see Change Image) and the Display Name (see Change Display Name). Lets change the Display Name. And you see the change in Display Name. At the end of the process disable the Edit Mode again (see Edit Mode). |
Enable Edit Mode first (see Edit Mode). To remove a Hyperlink you select Remove Custom Object from the context menu. At the end of the process disable the Edit Mode again (see Edit Mode). |
To use a Hyperlink you simply click on it. And now your default Browser opens and the URL gets loaded.
